Talking to your employer

We would encourage you to maintain an open and honest relationship with your employer by discussing with them your commitments as a member of the Reserve Forces.

Telling your employer if you are called out

Your employer should already be aware of your commitments as a Reservist  as a result of Employer Notification. However, you are advised to update your employer of any changes and the likelihood of being mobilised.

If you do receive a Call-Out notice, you should make sure that your employer is aware of it. Your Call-Out pack may contain a letter addressed to your employer or your employer may receive a letter directly from the single Service Mobilisation Centre that issued the pack.

The letter addressed to your employer will contain information about how they can apply for an exemption, deferral or revocation of your mobilisation. It is also useful if you can discuss this with them too.

Maintaining a good relationship with your employer

The time between receiving your Call-Out order and reporting for mobilisation can be stressful for both you and your employer. It is during this time that you have to make provisions for your dependents and put your affairs in order. Your Unit Employer Support Officer (UESO/ ROSO) should aim to maintain the support of your employer and be a point of contact for them from the time you receive your Call-Out order.
