March to May - What's been happening?
The last few months have had a distinctly Army flavour with employers attending community lunches in Bristol and Dorchester, hosted by the South West Army Commander, Brigadier Jolyon Jackson.
Employers also attended special evening Army Presentations and Receptions at Swindon, Cheltenham, Salisbury and St Helier.
The only significant break in this Army-centric programme was the exciting experience for two employers of Royal Marines Reservists who we flew out to Norway to observe the Reservists in their arctic training.
However, now that the better weather is with us, we can launch into a wide range of activities over the coming months and, if you would like to be part of these, please let us know using the contact details at the bottom of the page.
Sunshine, sea and blue skies
The title should give you a clue - the next few months holds opportunities for South West employers to see behind the scenes at:
- Royal Naval Air Station, Culdrose, Cornwall - Helicopter training and Air-Sea Rescue (www.royal-navy.mod.uk/server/show/nav.3256)
- Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon - Naval Officer training (www.royal-navy.mod.uk/server/show/nav.3349)
- Royal Naval Air Station, Yeovilton, Somerset - Operational helicopter squadrons & flight deck training
(www.royal-navy.mod.uk/server/show/nav.3194) - HMS Raleigh, Torpoint, Devon/Cornwall border - New recruit training and specialist skills training (www.royal-navy.mod.uk/server/show/nav.3390)
But not everything is a shade of blue as we also have a visit to:
- The Army Officer Selection Board, Westbury, Wilts - The first and vitally important 3-day selection process before potential officers go to the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst (www2.army.mod.uk/aosb/)
These are just a few of the many no-cost opportunities open to employers and if you would like to know more please contact:
