Employers' Reception Sheffield Defence Studies Dining Club
The RFCA for Yorkshire and the Humber and SaBRE attended the Sheffield Defence Studies Dining Club Spring dinner at the Cutlers Hall Sheffield on the 24th April 2008. The Regional SaBRE Campaign Director Richard Lenton along with members of the Sheffield UOTC hosted employers represented from Multiserv UK by Mr Stuart Whitbread, Robinsons Painters & Decorators by Mr Derek Robinson, and Barnsley District Council by Mr Andrew Slater. All enjoyed an evening in this prestigious venue and were entertained by the guest speaker General
Sir Mike Jackson GCB CBE DSO DL. Mr Derek Robinson of Robinson Painters & Decorators said that the evening was fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to join this exclusive dining club and listen to the General speak. He also said how impressed he was with the young Officers who had helped host them during the evening. SaBRE Yorkshire and Humber will be looking to host a small group of employers at the Leeds Defence Studies Dining Club for employers in the North and West of Yorkshire.
TA100 Royal Garden Party and Lunch at the Rubens Hotel
Employers from the Yorkshire and Humber Region are looking forward to attending the TA100 Celebration event at the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. Over 30 employers from across Yorkshire and the Humber will attend this event along with other employers from around the UK. The RFCA and SaBRE for Yorkshire and Humber are hosting a pre-event lunch in the Old Masters Carvery at the Rubens Hotel on Buckingham Palace Road. The Regional SaBRE Campaign Director Richard Lenton said, this is an opportunity for everyone to come together, network and get to know each other over lunch before heading as a group to the Palace. The Garden Party is a National TA100 event and over 6,000 guests are expected to attend from all parts of the UK. The event will host serving TA Soldiers, families and employers and is expected to be one of the most popular events in the TA100 calendar.
Exercise Executive Stretch 2008
This year's Exercise Executive Stretch, was hosted by 34 (N) Signals Regiment with the North of England RFCA and Yorkshire & Humber RFCA supporting, and was held again in the Catterick Training Area. Over 113 young executives and managers attended this year's event representing around 35 companies from the 2 regions. The event began on the Thursday 5th June and concluded on Saturday 7th June 2008 around lunch time after a presentation ceremony.
This year attracted 75% of new companies who believe the new Thursday evening to Saturday lunch time format was much more suited to their employees. The Yorkshire Building Society has attended the last 3 years and Mr Chris Bull, Operations Director, is a big supporter of the event. Senior Management from the companies attended the event on the Friday starting with a brief, followed by lunch and then a tour visiting the teams out on the ground.
TA100 Locomotive Naming Ceremony
The Commander 15 (NE) Brigade hosted HRH the Duke of York on Saturday 14th June 08 at a special anniversary day as part of the National TA100 Event. The day commenced with a Royal Gun Salute with March Past by the 4 Yorkshire Regiment in the Queens Gardens, York. The guests then moved on to the National Railway Museum for a buffet reception during which HRH the Duke of York named a mainline locomotive in honour of the Territorial Army. Members of the local Territorial Army units hosted the reception and guests consisted of Territorial Veterans, families and local employers. The Regional SaBRE Campaign Director Richard Lenton hosted 16 employers from Yorkshire and Humber as part of the Supportive Employers campaign in the region.
