County SaBRE Employer Support Events

From time to time during the year we like to give you, the employer, the opportunity to attend the various events that are planned by individual units and by the region. These range from visiting Reservists during local training sessions to visiting annual camp; from attending presentations by representatives of all three services, to visiting an area of operations abroad. If you would like to find out more about what your Reservist employee does when they leave the workplace, please give me a call and we will ensure that you are invited to an appropriate event local to you. There is an annual formal dinner in each county to which Reservist employers are invited. It is our way of thanking you for the support you have exhibited for your Reservist employee(s). These evenings are also the occasion at which we present Secretary of State's awards to organisations who ensure that their Reservists are well supported and their training needs are met wherever possible.

Secretary of State's Award for Supportive Employers

It is part of my role in the region to forward organisation names to the Secretary of State of those companies who have demonstrated their commitment in supporting their Reservist employees. It is sometimes not easy to allow your employee time to attend training and sometimes you are unable to do so. However, most employers compromise and meet their employee part way. This demonstrates support and the Secretary of State wishes to recognise this commitment by the award of a certificate to the organisation. Exercise Executive Stretch

In 2008 the exercise will take place between 26th and 28th September at Altcar on Merseyside. If any organisation wants to secure places for their executives and middle managers on this extremely useful weekend, please give me a call. It is our opportunity to show you just what the men and women of the Reserve Forces get up to when they are not in the workplace. You will also appreciate the skills that they acquire during their training and why they are such an asset to your organisation. You may also hone your own skills by taking part; team building, leadership and problem solving being just some of the vital elements of this fun weekend in the outdoors.
